I just bought an 89 V10 specifically for off-road use. I want to be able to drive from Oregon to Utah, Idaho, ect, to off-road but it won't be a DD. So, street legal but I don't care to much about road noise or gas mileage...much.
I was wondering what type of drive train I should look at? I have been looking around the site but most of it is still greek to me.
Example, if I choose to swap out front a rear differentials, axles, drive shafts, etc, what would be best for a non-DD but street legal and so-so gas mileage (I assume gear ratios would be part of the gas mileage calculation)? Is there a place that can explain it all?
I wan't the Blazer to be tough for the off-road rocks, have great support, great climbing power, and ground clearance. I figure I would raise the truck six inches plus equivilent tire size. Whatever that may be. I just don't know where to start or what all the designations are. New to all this obviously. Engines, I know. The rest, no.
Just point me in the right direction and I am off and learning. Thanks.
