The Kwik Performance bracket is $50 cheaper... what is the benefit of the Sanden compressor. I really know very little about AC stuff so bear with me here. Will the sanden work with my other existing AC components?

For me, the benefit of the sanded compressor is that I have it in my garage.

It looks like the Dirty Dingo setup comes with the tensioner though so maybe its a push on the price.

The sandens are supposed to be more efficient and take less hp to spin. That said, with mine fir the time being I'm going to run my original r4 compressor using the home brew method using the old tbi bracket. Cheapest way of getting ac going.

Ah yes... I read that thread awhile back. I probably saw it in your thread. Im not sure how I feel about that modified bracket. I guess I would just have a couple extra belts in the vehicle and maybe roll like that. I think the main thing I need to decide is what compressor I want to run. My AC currently does not work and I have thought about switching to R134 just cause its much easier to get and I can recharge the system myself. But I am not sure what all would have to be replaced in order to run R134 AND make it work properly.

That will take some research on your part. And if you have the money, and want to do bit right the first time, get one of the kwik or dd brackets and a sanden. You will be done.
For the 134 conversion, from my own research, you need to completely flush the old system, change all the o rings, and then you SHOULD change the rubber lines too. The theory I read is that on the molecular level, r12 is the size of a basket ball and 134 is the size of a golf ball. Because of that, the 134 can weep through the r12 lines.
I switched mine to 134 years ago and only did the other rings. It would last one year and that's it. So it needs re charged every year. I think what I'm going to do this go around is get an ac line setup for a truck without rear ac and try that out to see if it will last longer.

That was my plan, but mine has held well over the last few years with R12.
Hard to get shops to do those types of AC mods, and i don't do AC work.

Yeah I found a place in town here that will work on r12 stuff and will do conversions but he would not giveme an estimate for anything over the phone and he was the ONLY shop i could find willing to do it. My guess is it will be spendy.From talking to a couple shops I heard that I would need to change the condensor too because of the different molecular size thing. I guess I will just leave the ccompressor off for now and figure it out after I get the motor running. Once it starts getting stupid hot around here Im sure I will be more inclined to spend some money on it.

Sounds like a plan. For the record when I did my 134 conversion, it worked great. Cold air out the vents and no problems. Other than it not lasting more than a year.

I should say that what I mean is you can get cold air for cheap and easy, but it's not going to be as good or long term as a proper job with the changing of the other components like the condenser and such.

Im heading to reno tomorrow. Gonna do some gambling tomorrow night with some friends and pick up the motor Saturday morning. I think he is going to have it on the run stand so I can see it run... I am EXCITED!
I started pulling the old 350 out yesterday after work, that was a weird feeling of no return lol. Should have the old motor out on Sunday and then the fun begins!

I also just picked up most of the materials for my rear bumper today. Im hoping I might be able to get some work done on it at my work since things are a little slow right now.
