8lug swap completed

If it was me, i would have pulled the whole axle off the donor axle.

I would have but everything was torn apart and everything knuckles out was gone except the hubs. The hubs were layin on the ground and stripped of their internals so I was all :woot:and :saweet: and what not cuz I got lucky and didnt have to do anything

So not to thread hijack, but I have seached the forum on this and looked at the tech article on the swap. So to do this on my 91' I would need the following:
spindles
hubs (rotors?)
caliper bracket

Is there more that I would need, will the calipers I have work?
Thanks

Someone from PA go get some fresh eyes on this thing please.

Pat: PM is coming your way.

if some people would finish filling out there profile info then someone could help him out.

pa is a big state. as is others.

Try the bearings and races from the 6 lug rotors in the 8 lug rotors.Sounds like the inner diameter of the bearings may be different. Just a thought...never mind talking to a "real" parts guy they interchange. Sounds like the problem is with the caliper mounting brackets. Did you by chance keep the bracket mounting bolts from the original 8 lug bracket? Could they be Thin head bolts? Just a thought

Finally got the salt out of my wounds

Well everybody im sorry to have left the thread dead but finally i can update you all. Hopefully with a few productive posts I can redeem myself:doah::doah:

I will give you guys a quick update followed by pictures.

First, I finally got the 14bolt in. Super simple swap and added the Ruff Stuff disc brake swap with ORD brake lines while I was at it.

Second, I never figured out the grinding on the front hubs so I found a complete axle in the junk yard for a song and transferred all of the new races and stuff onto it. Swapped that in a few hours. Got lucky with matching gear ratios (3.73). Got new calipers, discs, and brake lines.

Third, Shortly after I ended up moving back to Colorado:woot:where the Jimmy is waiting for me to install the DIY4x shackle flip kit, mini spool for the 14ff, and I just ordered the 37" hummer tires.

On to the pics

nice, whatever it takes to get it done and make sense, do it. I'm glad it didn't rust away while you're scratchin your head.

But I finally got some tires and rims off of craigslist, 37" hummer take offs.

Heres some poser pics. Time to get the sawzall out:waytogo:
