i am doing a 6" susp lift with a 3" body and im woundering how 38's will clear with that setup. would i be better off with 37's?

forgot to add.. i DONT want to trim the fenders...

What width tire & rim will make a difference. I had an '88 K5 that had 6" suspension & ran 36x12.50 tsl radials on 15x10" rim & then ran 38x12.50 tsl on 15x8. They both rubbed about the same.

they will most likely be 38.5x15x15 on a 15x14 wheel. if they wont clear with 9" of lift, i may drop to 37x13x15 boggers. i want to have the biggest tires i can fit with out rubbing and still have alittle room for suspension movement

just to give you an idea i cut the fenders but this is 6 inches and 38.5...

wow.. that may be alittle close. even with a 3" body on top of that, i dont think thats gonna give me too much room. they are the exact tires i am lookin at too. ill probably just go with 37's unless someone can verify that 38's or 38.5's wont rub..

if your never gonna flex it out you will be alright...i still hit when i flex mine all the way...i think 01maroonz71 has 8+3 and 39s and he clears them very well..

im going to flex alittle bit, but not the whole way. i just dont want to hit the fenders when i turn on alittle bit of an incline, ect.

Heres mine with 8" front springs and a 1" zero rate, 6" rear springs and 2.5" shackle flip. With 38.5x14.5" tires on 16.5x9.75" rims. Second pic is the same lift with 37"s. My 38"s rubbed, but so far my 37"s havent.

They rubbed even when I turned into a driveway. When I flexed it out it got into the fender pretty bad. If the front axle was moved forward it would have helped alot.

I had 8" superlift springs with 35x16x16.5 boggers on 12" wide rims that would rub under flex when I was turned. the fenders were cut enough to run bushwacker cut outs. the more narrow the tire the less likely you are to rub.

Do you have more pics of your '83? That's a beauty, so cleeean.

how wide are the stock aluminum k5 wheels? how wide of a tire can you safely put on them? im really looking at the 37/13/15 tsl boggers for my setup. if i can, i will use the stock wheels for now because i plan on doing a 1 ton axle swap in the future, so i dont want to spend money on nice wheels when ill have to get new ones for 8 lugs down the road.

my suburban has 6" of lift and 37x13.5 nitto mud grapplers on 18x9.5 procomp wheels and it doesn't rub when i turn and i can flex a lil bit. i'm going to put the three inch body lift on it eventually but for right now it's streetable and ok for moving around my familys ranch in.
