My Dad has decided to sell his Blazer which we found here on the western slope of Colorado, I don't know where it came from before, however. It doesn't have rust that I have found yet, but I haven't been all over it in a few years. It did have to get the floor welded up at the seat mounts, I don't think that he reinforced them. The carpet, door panels and left door are from the '89 suburban that donated it's transmission. It still has the VSS NP241 in it though. I am fairly certain that it has 3:73 gears in the 10 bolts, it's been a few years since I was under it looking at them. It has a 400 small block with Vortec heads and a GM Vortec to TBI intake manifold. I put a 15 psi regulator in it when he got it running, but I believe that it would benefit from a little better chip. It never bothered him enough for us to delve into it further. The muffler and tailpipe need some attention. The windows all work, but the passenger window is getting very slow. The left door panel has a piece glued in by the window switch. The original interior was blue and Dad liked the gray suburban parts better, so.. The driver seat needs redone a d I believe that the dash pad has some cracks, I need to look at it better. A/C is all there, but I bet that it needs a new compressor and charged, we never tried it. The paint has been coming off more every year so it needs the surface rust removed. I don't feel that it is in bad shape in that aspect, it should clean off decently. Dad installed the running boards 4 or 5 years ago. I will get some pictures of the underside soon. $3800 , offers considered. Located in Palisade, CO.
This is the only place that I have listed it so far. It does need some attention here and there, but I believe that it is pretty rust free, just dirty. I am going to get some pictures of the bottom side when I get a chance.
So I took quick pictures and I didn't have the keys or time to lift the carpet. The tailpipe hangar is one of the things that is bad. The 2nd picture is the front of the left rear wheel well. The inner fenders are more evidence of why I hate to see this go. That's a spot of grease , not a rust hole in the passenger side one.
My hatred for rust makes me want to buy this even though I don’t need another vehicle. That is a good deal.
Well I have been going to and from work in the dark this week, and tonight got home early enough to find out that Dad sold this Wednesday night and thought that he told me when he texted about some other things. Yeah for him, sad for the rest of us.
I really wish that I could have bought it, but I couldn't justify a 2nd K5 when I am working on putting a newer daily driver/ work truck. The wife gave me a look when I ordered a cam kit for it! And since I have most of another '90 K5 tucked in several spots.. Surprisingly, the guy who bought it originally asked if it was 4x4. A young Hispanic guy, who plans to paint it soon.
I'm going to have to sell my '90 in the next couple of months...between registration, insurance, and parts, I've been getting a lot of those looks you speak of lately. I even offered to "give" my wife the other truck so she could drive her own truck when we go camping....She didn't bite. Guess she's smarter than i give her credit for.
My gives me looks all the time and tongue lashing as well for all my vehicles. In turn I do the same about all the crap she keeps buying and use once and put away. We keep it interesting
