Honestly they dont care. Your lucky to have the truck back. All they are going to do is some BS paperwork and send you and the truck on the way.
Yup, sorry to say that's all that happened when my stolen Stang was recovered a few years back :(

Can you believe that bullshAt!!!! They took your new 1ton axles and crossover steering off and put some 1/2ton crap under there :confused::tongue1::ignore:

 I won't tell if you dont.... :haha:

I am so sorry for your loss, hope you can get her back to normal soon. Makes me wonder how much fuel was in it. With the gas prices that was probably worth more than the tires, wheels, and stereo. I am glad you got it back.

What to do....

Well, for now it sits under a tarp at my brothers place. For now, that's where she'll sit... I've got no room to work on it, and thanks to the towing company, the brakes are totally trashed. I guess it's logical to push a truck accross the ground on the axle :angry1: I'm just about pissed off enough to build it up again, or sell it and start over again with another rig. Either wan, next truck I build will be equiped with some kind of hidden kill switch.....

Here's the pictures from the tow yard. Sorry for the quality, I was trying to camera phone them before the tow truck driver caught on:

This one shows where the left and right brakes drug, plus the pumpkin.

This is the view from where the truck was, towards where they started pushing it on the ground.

This final picture shows where they started pushing it, to where it finally came to rest.

I've got 4 33" general grabber AP on stock blazer rally rims with rings and centers that could get you up and running quickly, $150 will take em'. Tires pretty good shape as are rims. Probably enough to get her sold! -BB

Simple anti theft device! And its Free!!!! Pull the coil wire!:D
those collars protect your ignition but all our chevy's have a lil rod that pushes down on the column. pair of pliers and i can start ur truck without damaging ur ignition or the wires. takes 2 seconds. plus it unlocks the steering too:mad: i always pull my coil wire if im out away from my truck for any period of time. just sucks when u get in and forget to put it back on:doah:

How can you move that rod without the key to unlock the ignition cylinder, without damaging anything?

I've yet to hear of anyones vehicle being stolen with a column guard on it, though I have heard success stories.

You can't unlock the steering wheel without the key. The lock pin is mechanically driven off the end of the key. If it had been possible I would have done it to get my K5 down to the shop when my wife lost the keys to it. I have been through the columns on plenty of Chevrolet's and they are mechanical pin for the steering, although the shifter can be moved and you can break the pin without the ignition being turned.

That's what I thought. The column guard isn't a fixall for theft, but it makes these things about as hard to steal as they should have been from the factory, which means ten times harder than the '70's-90's GM with no column guard two blocks away. :)
