Was driving the blazer out to the lake on the weekend when I heard a loud BANG :eek1: and lost control of the steering while doing 90 kms an hour. Swirved all over the road but finally got er pulled over. To make a long story short, I drove it home without noticing any problems.

Turns out my bearings on the front passenger side wheel grenaded and locked up my right wheel.

I pulled it all apart on the weekend and basically from the damage it looks like I need a new spindle, bearings, hubs, etc.

What I am wondering is before I go to put this all back together, does anyone have any advice on removing the inner bearing from the spindle, degreasing, and repacking the new bearings? I just want to make sure that I don't miss anything and end up with the same problem again.

Any advice on this would be much appreciated.. thanks in advance.

BTW this is my first post, I'm sorta new to colorado k5, just been mostly reading and learning as much as I can about K5's before I start ripping mine apart:grind: and rebuilding them. here are a couple of pics of my projects:

When I removed the spindle bearings I used a 12" or so long pry bar and pounded them out with a hammer. Just be carefull when you install the new ones in because you can bend the cage. I would press in the new ones and not pound them in.

I use that purple clean to clean greasy parts.

I use the bearing slap method to repack. Fill your hand with grease and slap the bearing into it to get them all greased up. Or fill a zip lock baggie with grease and work it into the bearings.
