Ok so call me crazy but here's my idea;
I have 91 4x4 3/4ton burb 350tbi(worn out) and a 4l80e/np241 set-up. I also have access to a partners 02' burb 3/4ton 2wd 6.0/4l80e. I love my 91' but the $ of upgrading the motor is substantial and the stock 02' has better output without touching it!
I am concidering swapping the tranny/transfercase out of the 91 into the 02' along with the sas set-up. Hey comfort and reliability to boot! This way I get 4wheel disc brakes with abs, nine airbags, functional air conditioning and a killer interior!
My other option is to do a 6.0 swap in the 91' and for go the creature comforts. I love this truck much more than the 02' but the allure of the 02' is to much to resist yet.

I would love some input from anyone with any thoughts here. The misses loves the 'comfort' of the 02' as well.
Thanks for reading

Why did you make 2 threads?? Lol, Again you need to swap the front axle from the old one to make the 02 4x4, and then you wouldnt have abs up front..

I just did the same thing. I bought a 2000 3/4 ton to take the 6.0 out of and ended up tearing the K5 apart and I'm in the process of swapping the running gear into the new truck. I was tired of fixing stuff on the old truck.

I did the math, and its really about the same amount to swap the parts into the new truck as it is to swap the new motor into the old truck. My thinking also being it is a lot easier to troubleshoot suspension than it is to try to figure out why your 20 year old electronics arent working with your newer computers. I'll be keeping the blazer for a linked rockwell/mog setup some day, but until then I'll be wheeling comfortable in a newer pickup.

As for the two threads I wanted to attract opinions from both old and new truck owners.

Cruz - Any chance for a few pictures? Any advise as to how you mount the axle brackets is appreciated. I don't plan to buy any kits as I have the complete donor vehicle.

I've been busy with other projects, but I'll be more than happy to post a few pictures.

Ever concider putting a divorced 205 behind the 02's trans? and then also going ahead with the strait axle conversion.

I am considering running the 2wd tranny and a divorced t-case right behind it. I have a 2000 4*4 pick-up, the 2002 2*4 burb and the 91' 4*4 burb to compare. This weekend I will be making plans as to whats the easiest or whats even feasible. We'll see what works - I will take pics & post progress
