91-98 4l80e Fs-----SOLD------

TRANNY IS SOLD

Hey guys, recently I bought a 4l80e for my project blazer for 1100 bucks. Well turns out that it is not a 2001 4l80e that bolts up to a 6.0 vortec like I was told it was, its a 4l80e out of a 91-98 chevy 3/4 ton pu, cant tell exactly what year because the yard tore off the id tag on the bellhousing that comes from the factory. I do know for a fact that it is a 4l80e though and have figured out by the location of the sensors and cooler lines that it is most likely between 91 and 96(very little difference between years), but could be a 97 or 98. Since it has been a project in the works, a few months passed before I figured it out. And the yard I got it from said that it was my fault for not inspecting upon pickup so now I am stuck with a tranny that I dont need, so I thought that I would pass the word along, so hopefully somebody can come out on top. Well its a latemodel 4l80e 4x4 transmission, the yard I got it from said it has 18k miles on it, it comes with the case which is very clean(new front seal), the torque convertor, an adapter to bolt it to a np241 transfer case, but no dust cover. Thats the only thing they didnt give me, but you can get one at a salvage yard or a transmission core place for 20 bucks or less. I want $500 OBO, I need to get rid of this thing. I will also consider a straight up trade for a set of 3/4 ton axles-14bff/dana 44 with matching gears in decent shape and a hydroboost system. I paid 1100 bucks for this thing and I have the receipt for it, I dont care, I just want to get a little money back out of it or atleast something I can put to good use on my truck. It would be nice to pay off part of my christmas bill but Im not picky. Let me know what you got, I might be open to other trades as well. TRANNY IS SOLD

Does anyone know if you can use a 97-98 4L80e in a 1996 model truck?

Computer upgrade needed or not?

as long as the computer has the shift tables(meaning, the computer came from a truck that had a 4l80e in it from the factory) for the 4l80e, it will work.

My bro in law put a 99 in a 94 burb, no difference.

There are many internal differences but one external difference that will require change. In 97/98 the coolant return line moved to the rear of the trans by the reverse band for better cooling. Would require a new cooler line.

'91 and '92 (maybe 93&94 too I don't remember) used a different internal harness with different pinouts. The ATSG books have a section on how to change the pinouts on the vehicle harness.

I have a matched set of 10 bolt/14 bolt FF. 3.73 gears. lunch locker in front, rear welded, front diff protection. Also have hydro boost setups. Also have cash and I am in Houston.

So this is a 18,000 mile unit that was supposed to be in excellent, useable condition? If so, I am interested.

I will buy it if it is usable as is, not needing a rebuild. Let me know.
