Thinking about buying a 1991 k5 so I can pull the trans and transfer case and put them in my 74 blazer with a 350eng... Will it bolt in without modification?
Help...
Thanks!
It will bolt on but may require drilling holes for the transmission crossmember. Using the driveshafts from the donor will save you cash. Will use a different t case shifter. just to name a few things
Having the donor will make things easier... Alot easier.
Great.. The donor is a fully operating vehicle that listed at 1500 Obo so I seams like a good deal... My 74 has a turbo 350 trans and full time 4 wheel drive... My thought is to change the hubs as well...?
Yup you will need to install manual. Locking or auto locking hubs. Being a 74 you should have a th350/np203 with a Dana 44 and 12 bolt rear. So with the swap you will gain OD and less wear on your front end parts. Keep in mind the donor will have TBI too and if it is good shape you may want to swap the motor trans and t-case.
If you wheel or tow an aux transmission cooler would be a good idea.
Do some searching here people have done these swaps before...

How about using the 74 as the donor! Is the 91 fully loaded,pw, pl, ac, cruise? If so i'd do a full top conversion and swap the axles (74 d44/12bolt for the 91's 10 bolts) and call it good! there is a post in the tech articles that goes into more detail about the top conversion! On the other hand there's no emmisions requirements on the 74.
