Hi all,
Trying to figure out most practical but best solution for a 91. Currently stock, 350, headers, 456 gears and that is about it. I was told that I could purchase a new crate motor trans and transfer case that newer trucks have and it will work. I don't know how this would work with electronic 4x4 with locking hubs. Basically I want A LOT more power and good shifting any suggestions what would be the easiest and best fit. I currently do have fuel injection. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A transfer case from a newer truck will have the output on the wrong side.

LS motors are the hot swap right now but I'm not sure who would sell a COMPLETE crate motor with brackets, computer, harness, etc.

x2 what nvrenuf said, LS swap is gonna be the way to go. Depending on your trans/tc set up you may want to leave them be. With a lot of LS swaps you're gonna have to order different parts from different places. Alot of the parts are relatively easy to come by though.

It all comes down to money and time. LS is probably the cheapest way to do a big increase in power, but cost varies widely. The "cheap" route is to acquire a junkyard motor + trans and harness off a donor truck, and then take care of all the issues and nickel and dime modifications to make it work in your rig. If you have more money than time, crate motors are available and there are several companies that can make you custom harnesses for your application.
