What is the best way to remove the sticky body moulding on my 91? I'd hate to rip the paint off with the trim.

What is the best way to prep for the new trim going on?

Im going to buff the the truck and wax it when all of the trimm is off so should i remove the wax when i stick the new trim on or would it be ok just applying it on the waxed surface?

I had to take off all the rubber trim off my old quarter panel in the rear, and re use it on the new quarter that was sectioned in, believe it or not I ripped them off without any damage to the paint or the trim :eek1:.

For removal, I would carefully use a heat gun to make the trim and adhesive soft, then slowly peal the trim off the truck, after its removed go over the area with some soapy water to scrub all the dirt buildup. When re applying the trim, scrape all the old adhesive off and use automotive double sided adhesive tape (note, once you stick it on, it will be really hard to re align if needed) However DO NOT wax it before putting them back on, the tape wont bond too well.

WD-40 also does okay at removing adhesive residue, or Goo Gone.

We took mine off with a heat gun and it still took a chunk of paint off about 2" x 3", just take your time!
