Hey gang,

took apart my dash to clean and fix a few things, I know i should have been more careful and taken note of the light positions, at any rate I had 2 Mystery wires with Bulbs attached. one which was just a bulb with the screw lock(to connect to the holes in the gauge) the other on the right was a bulb with some connectors(and the lock)....now, i don't remember taking these off when i got the gauge cluster out, just the rectangle. noting i did could make either of the bulbs light up. My assumption is that the bulb(left) is for the 4x4 light, but i engaged it and it did not light up. but the one on the right is still a mystery.....any help would be appreciated. also the bulbs themselves are a mix of gray and blue....i am assuming blue is illumination and gray is indicators correct?:doah:

Just as a refresher, i have a 91 suburban 4x4 v2500 z82

unfortunately it is all buttoned back up until i order the LED replacement bulbs.

but to clarify the two wires with bulbs were coming from the dash opening.one which had the same connectors as the bulbs contacts and all, like the bulbs & was closer to the left hand side of the dash opening. The other just had wires connected to it and the same connector as the bulbs but without the electrical contacts, and was at the center to right side of the opening.

Hmm......good thought...I will se if it will reach over to the ash tray, or if it already has one. the other light MUST be the 4x4 light......which is not working, but the bulb seems fine...

I think it may be the 4wd light if I remember correctly. Sounds right anyways. Mine didn't work either. There is a small "ball" type switch on the transfer case that needs to be replaced. I went to the junkyard and found one for about $2. Just look around the transfer case for a few wires coming down from your 4wd shifter in the floor.

There are also 2 more green/purple wires that go to the tailshaft of your t-case. That is for your speedo so that would be different.

Good luck.
