I bought this rig a couple years ago & daily drove it while I finished the 5.3, 4l60e install in my 79. The swap is done now & I am daily driving the 79. This 91 has been sitting for a couple months.
This Jimmy was originally some kind of public service vehicle. ( Sheriff's office, forest service, land management ...) There are no factory options. Manual windows & door locks, no air conditioning, rubber floor mat, no cruise control. It has a couple screw holes in the dash from auxiliary radios, fire extinguisher mount behind driver's seat, antennas on the roof. I have installed an aftermarket stereo, and replaced the dash speakers.
The odometer shows 150k miles, previous owner claimed the engine was replaced by a dealership with a targetmaster longblock @ 100k miles. I can't confirm that but the engine is pretty solid. When I bought it the previous owner replaced the original transmission with a th400 & 205. I had a 700r4 in stock & soon found the correct np241 transfer case to return the drivetrain to original configuration. The tires are BFG KM2 285/70/17s with plenty of life on them. I have repaired the frame where it cracked at the steering box with the Offroad Design repair plate. & installed the steering box brace from ORD.
