if you get the radiator core support, grill, all the lights off of a 91 suburban will it be a direct bolt in a blazer. can you use your same radiator and condensor . working on a 88 blazer

Don't do it!

The '91 front is the ugliest of all model years, and the '88 front the best looking!

Of course, this is merely my personal opinion, and to each his own.

I guess if you could find a guy with a '91 K5 who shared my opinion and give your '88 front to him, nothing will be lost. :wink1:

You know, I used to think the later grille was so much better looking, but after owning my '88 for a while (and after painting the silver plastic black), the earlier style has really grown on me. I actually like it better:wink1:

2nd i did this swap and it was easy BUT

i now wish i did not the older light over light would provide much more light

i like the look of the 89-91 gmc my self.

and yes for best light output 81-87 quad over/under light setup and relay mod to any combo you have will help.

i was thinking it would be more light because it was a newer design light bulbs. but if thats the case i think ill stick with the 88 grille for now. my lights dont seem as bright as they should do the headlight bulbs get dimmer over time maybe i just need to replace my headlights for brighter lights yea i think ill take better lighting over looks

Keep your older grill. Not as many lighting options with bulb selectiom. ie. no Silver Stars for the '91 front end.
This is true. It's hit or miss whether stores will even carry the small low and/or high beam. Plus, there was never a combination high/low bulb so you can't double up your lighting that way. The relay mod is definately worthwhile because it will cost less than $10.

But if you really want light, get the Euro capsules from LMC and then do a HID conversion on them. The HID kits are really dropping in price.

i have the latest lmc book . i see the euro lights but i dont see anything about the HID bulbs or at least i think your talking about replacement bulbs where do you buy them i see the wire harness kit. is that what your talking about but its 30.00 bucks

You need the headlight housings from LMC so that you have a replaceable bulb instead of a sealed beam. Then the HID conversion is a separate step - the kits are designed as drop-in replacements for halogen bulbs. Just google "HID conversion" or look on eBay.

You will never get a perfect beam pattern or HID cut-off with this kind of setup because an HID arc needs a different reflector design than a Halogen filament - projector housings seem best. You may blind oncoming drivers on the street, but it gives you maximum light off-road. It should work great for a high-beam setup and maybe run Halogen low beams?
