Was on LMC's site looking at some parts diagrams and came across something strange to me. I have a 91 Jimmy but as I was looking at the steering on it, instead of having the same style steering as the LMC catalog shows for a Jimmy of that year, it has the style similar to the suburban or earlier 76-80 Jimmy. I have looked up the parts diagrams for both the Suburban and the Jimmy and it looks as though LMC is correct in the catalog.

This thing is pretty darn stock so I would be surprised if the axle has been swapped at any point. It's not a huge deal one way or another but more a point of curiosity. As the model year was winding down did GM start mixing and matching some parts on things since they were retiring the platform? This particular k5 appears to have been a fleet vehicle too..... did they do anything different with those than the standard runs?

Like I say not a big deal..... just was interesting to me. This is a new to me vehicle so that was an interesting find on it.

If the tie rod doesn't match, no big deal.
My '90 Jimmy has an old style on it. But it had 265K on it when I bought it from an old man, so I know that parts got swapped.

And on a side note, I would buy all of the steering parts that you need somewhere besides LMC. The prices will be less.

Yes the tie rod. More was just using them for the exploded view on the parts since they are useful for that. I will likely just be doing all moogs and then I might have WFO make me a tie rod.

I had them make me a set for the hydroassist on my cj and they did a nice job so I wouldn't mind giving them business again. If anyone is ever working through complex steering stuff I cannot speak highly enough about them. I walked them through what I was trying to accomplish and they helped me on a solution.

The initial one didn't work because of what I was trying to shoe horn in (hydro assist on a spring under cj with only 3.25" of lift). They took back the parts no questions asked even though they had custom drilled the knuckles. They worked with me to design a nice solution, refunded the difference since the end scenario was less expensive.

Frankly because of that experience still feel like I owe them some additional business.
