just started driving it again. here is a pic for the heck of it. few things popped up. the wipers dont return sometime and delay does not work at all. hi and low work.

second thing. there seems to be some wondering in the steering. before i parked it. i took off the mud tires. that helped a bit. tightened the steering box twice. helped too. still a bit there.

so where should i start thanks

clean man,It's time to :hack::weld:j/k.I would check the ball joints, tie rod ends, wheel bearings and look very careful at the frame where the steering box bolts to they tend to crack behind the box.

On my 77 I found that the big tires tend to wear out the bottom bearing in the steering box,Makes the shaft wobble back and forth.

I would check and then replace the steering linkage with the Jeep XJ. That is the best mod (bang for your buck) that you can do. I replaced my drag link, tie rod ends and the steering linkage and my truck is tight now. I also did the steering box brace mod.

Man that thing looks clean. As far the wipers there is a control module on the steering column under the dash. Might check it first, its a lot easier to change out then the blinker/switch.

Yea what he said, that blinker switch is a real pain:mad: But i did it:D

really nice looking and clean ride too.

That is surprising to me that an xj steering setup would be that much better.. ..huh I'm not saying you're wrong.. just suprising.. sorry to hijack..

going to be a DD. to clean to wheel. took a long time but i have this 91 suburban and crew cab just as clean.

Did you figure it out? I have the problem where delay no longer works, and the wipers only work in high and low speed. You also have to stop them in the position you want manually. I replaced my module, I thought for a second they worked fine then I put the dash together and it was back to the same way again. I replaced the switch on the column with a new a year ago thinking that was it. But it is not. Motor was replaced a couple years back. The only thing I didn't change was the motor yet. But why would that cause the problem?

Looking for any solutions, other than throwing more many it this problem.

**UPdate** Used the trouble shooting schematic in the vehicle maintenance books I finally found in the attic I had packed away. It was a bad wiper motor. The 3/4 plug was unplugged while the wipers were still running with the switch in the off position after turning them off. I pulled the 3/4 plug an they kept wiping. Which the book said, bad park switch in the motor or something.

Replaced the motor and everything works like brand new again.
