91 K5 Build

gonna do any spot blasting?

oh, and just an fyi, you can put multiple pics in 1 post...

Yes I plan on doing some spot blasting and thinking about either a rust converter or por 15 or both. Can you use a converter and then the por 15 over it?

Thank you for the tip!

Those areas with the seat belt mounts...I have pretty much identical issues I've been dealing with. As far as the rust, our truck are twins aside from color.

Haha...I guess those are real common areas for the k5's to have cancer! I have cut out tons of the bad and hopefully starting on replacing it with new in the next week or two. I have seen your progress and you are doing a great job!

I have the same truck as you with the same problem. I have been looking for the kick plate for weeks. Do you know if anybody makes them

I fully understand the issue.

LMC truck parts has a good selction of sheet metal parts for these rigs available.

I found a rotted out floor and Pinchweld area on my 84 and we dont have salt here in Oregon.

My choice was to replace the entire body with one off a truck that had not leaked inside.

Im sure that in your area a replacement body without rust is not gonna happen.

Try LMC and see what they have.

Besides the rust, i love the rig. Def a good project. Ive seen the same rust issues and what i saw work were eastwood rust dissolver, wire brush drill attatchments and an angle grinder. do you know what kind of lift you have?

Couldn't help but notice the "Fairfields" sticker on the back tailgate.

Are you in the Keene area?

I'll give you a hint: Fairfields is about 3 miles from my house :D

Nice!...haha...I heard theres some good wheeling out that way, is there? Didnt four wheeler magazine of 4wheel offroad magazine start their Ultimate Adventure out that way and head into vermont?

By the way Greg nice build! That thing looks like its going to be killer! Hey is there any place around here to get the Royken green zinc chromate primer. I looked it up on line and it was going to cost like 10 bucks for shipping for one can! Just wondering if you got yours locally?

any marine store should have it.. west marine, etc...

Buy it 6 cans at time (or more) like I do... you won't get far with 1 can.

I go through wholesale marine on the web. I've posted the link recently.
