91 K5 Build

hows the progress coming?

I have had a rough winter so I didnt get anything done on it yet, but I have just got it running and its going in the garage soon to get started back up again. Thanks for asking and I will update as soon as I get some progress done.

So what do I do about this rust?

yep, someone had a visor on my blazer at one time. Now I have many many holes. Damn things. OO and 3 giant holes from a CB antenna. WTH?!

Cut and weld is about your only option. Fortunately not many squares rusted up there so someone near you should have an otherwise junk cab that would have the needed sections.

Or find a full vert topper and windshield frame and remove the entire problem! :waytogo:

Nah, just slow......warmer weather forces us folks out into the great outdoors again.

But I will say that is a nice fleet you have. I have a friend that had an 89 Blazer with the same color scheme as yours. I was always partial to it myself but for some reason, I can't seem to get away from red interiors. :dunno:

I am watching it. I just finished cutting out the rust in my floorboards. Odd thing is I was so wrapped up in cutting, measuring, fabricating and welding I forgot to take pics.

Right now the floor is ryoken zinc green, and I just dropped it off today to get a look over by a mechanic who was recommended to me. I just got the truck, so I wanted someone with a better brain to look it over and make a list so I can do the work... well most of the work.

You are making some good progress.

You guys in the rust belt complain but you guys get vehicles so damn cheap. I am sol for everything here

Spend some more time doing rust repair and get back to us.....:doah:

A cheap, rusty truck is false economy. I'd gladly pay a premium price for a solid, rust-free AZ truck.

Kickstand,

I have those same stupid tree droppings all over my driveway and yard now too....

Still, it's better than the heavy yellow layer of pollen that was on my car every day for the last two weeks.

:usaflag:

That pollen has got to stop. Tired of washing my truck, and my face/eyes. Stuff is killing me.

I'd happily pay more for a rust free version. This body of mine is not up to par with constantly climbing in/out, up/down and over/under trying to get that perfect measurement/cut/weld that needs to be done. I'm glad I have the interior done now... Next is the Tailpan, but that may get done at a body shop, as I don't have all the tools, or time right now to fix it.

Kickstand, What's next for the 91, and do you have any great plans for the new truck?

I know those things are annoying! My truck looks like crap with all stuck to it. And yes its way better than the yellow pollen was way worse and my allergies didnt like it much either!....hahaha

try painting/gelcoating boats outdoors for a living this time of year.... :eek1:

Yup I would have to agree I would pay more for a solid rig! But I admit I do like the cutting welding and grinding.

The K5 is coming along, I have the new rocker welded in, the fender openings are cut open and now I am fitting the 2"x 4" rock slider in on the drivers side. I need to get some pictures I keep forgetting my camera when I go work on my rig. But I will get some up soon. I am trying to have the k5 done for this summer, my step son Kyle is all over me to get it done he wants to go wheelin bad!!!...haha

The Black Silverado is eventually going to get a 6" lift and 35" - 37" tires, not sure what size I want to go with yet. But first i need to fix the rust on the bed and drivers side cab corner and paint it. But of course this all depends on cash! But I have a head start because I have a head start because the truck is paid for.

Thank you guys for all the comments and looking at my thread, I appreciate it!
