It's my first squarebody and older car so I can't answer your question about the 5 digits so all I can say is aren't they all like that? Lol

No chance it's out of a 74. It's has overdrive. Which did not exist in 1974.
Ah yes that makes sense, so it definitely is a 91 then
Doesn't look electronic, so an 89' or older. 90' and 91' are electronic.

It looks like its the case for a 91 but they put in older style gauges for the mechanical speedo hence why the hole cut in the back

Yes, looks blended. 90-91 case but has been chiseled out to accommodate the cable driven one.
The blue rectangle box should be solid, getting it's feed in your picture from the electrical plug on the left of the rectangle.
Circuit board looks to still be the electronic one, but the speedo head is definitely cable.

Yeah looks like it was modified for me hanical speedo, and the one part I would have bought it for isnt there, the Damned VSS speedo, dang it those things are hard to find, Darned LS swaps, Guess Im gonna have to buy a GPS speedo and be done with it. Sorry OP to complain in your thread.
Haha no problem, I have vhx Dakota digitals and I highly recommend them. There is a couple electric gauges on eBay IIRC one was $150

Only one i could find was 2 bills and they marked it like 71-91 or somthing if you look at pics its mechanical.
If you know where u saw it a link would be cool thanks man
Edit:think I just found one for a C-note, part number was right, but description was off and said for a cevy truck, but said it was speedo for use with speed sensor we will see, I can always sell it if its wrong one.

Thanks for the offers guys but ya know I been thinking, and the PO already replaced that speedo once, althought cruise and odo still work, im just gonna run a gps solution via my phone and a nicer one when i can afford it. I have a feeling the OEM one is just gonna break again
