91 K5 - Has anyone ever swapped the stereo and heater controls?

I found the thread ... waaay to much work for little old me. I'm going to stick with my dash because I'm a wimp. Haha

Definitely a ton of work. But for the hell of it, post the thread link.

Would like to see it again. What did he do for HVAC controls.

I swithed places stereo/heater contols in my 89 burb, took maybe an hour to get it looking ok,the cables etc. need no modifications, turned out nice,no pic´s though.

Did you do anything special, like buy any parts or do any fabrication? Or did you just use what was there?

I don't see how retro-fitting a dash from a newer truck and doing custom gauge holders is in the same realm as the original idea, but it's cool.

no additional parts,I think I just made some tabs to hold the heatercontrols in place, and trimmed the heater hole for the stereo to fit,it was like 6 years ago,so I might have forgotten some details, but I know for sure I did not go out to buy any add. stuff.
I have a miniature pneumatic sawsall, that I used to enlarge the heater hole.
if i remeber any more details,I´ll post them in this thread.

I sense a afternoon (weekend?) project ... thanks for the input!

The thought process here, besides being completely crazy, is that the stereo is in a different position and no longer blocked from view by the steering wheel.

But yeah ... compared to a few tabs and a Dremel I think it's crazy! :haha:
