well, what i am wondering is how do you know if you are getting all your power out of it. Mine sound ok but sometimes it seams that the rpms go up and down a bit. is this normal? Also, what would be some simple bolt ones for more power? as always thx for the help guys.

what do you mean by the rpm's going up and down? Is the engien surging under a constant throttle postion? There are a lot of mods around that you can do like a cold air intake, throttle body spacer, custom chip etc

vaccum leak most likely, check all the vac lines to make sure not are cracked, or collapsed

when mine would surge and have a weird idle i couldnt find problem. i replaced 02,fuel filter, tuneup, egr and that never solved it..then one day my truck died on me and wouldnt let me go above 5 mph until it cooled off and i wold start it back up again. turned out to be ignition control module(i think) picked one up for around 40 bucks and trucks been running great

how do i test the ignition control module? is there a way. What is near Vineland NJ? Never heard of that town.

umm close to bridgeton, millville, glassboro(kinda like 30 mins away) basically south jersey

not sure on how you would test it but what exactly is it doing? when mine was bad my rpms at idle would go down a bit and the truck would sound like it was about to die then pick up..and keep doing it.. i never noticed any misses at higher rpms though

chains like Autozone, Kragen's, CHecker, etc. should be able to test the module for you for free. Make sure they test it a few times in a row to warm up the module. Sometimes they only missoperate when they are warm/hot.

yep thats when mine would idle weird was once it was warm

doing just what you said. If i dont let it warm up and i put it into gear, sometimes it dies. So i let it warm up for a while. When it goes up and down at idle its very little, but it has stop running a few times. thanks for the help

FWIW, my TBI 454 has an up and down idle as well- about 35-50 RPMs either way. However, there are no other performance issues. I guess the reason I'm bringing this up is that there may be a chance that your idle issues and stalling issues are not related.

If it is the IAC it will fluctuate warm and cold. more then 50 rpm

ignition module...only when the engine is warmed up.

Also, may be vac leak,

I know where vineland NJ is:eek1:
