91 speedo not working

i can get the parts off a 88 or a 89 k5 that are being parted out. didnt havt time to look. think they are both cable. think thi swould be better then trying to find the problem. spent good amount of time on this. didnt get anywhere, so will it swap over? thanks for the help

'89 only parts that would work.

Not even close to being worth it, fix the speedo issue on yours.

Is the ECM getting the correct speed signal?

not sure, i took the truck off the road. the service light is always coming on. not sure at all whats going on. the needle just bounces. any ideas?

What have you done to try to fix the problem? Have you checked the sending unit in the xfer case? Checked to make sure everything is plugged in?
Have you checked trouble codes ti find out wht the CEL is on?

90and up is electric speedo. Pre 90 is cable driven. IMO not worth the hassle to swap it over. Just fix what you have.

Check the connectors on your DRAC. It is behind the lower dash panel that is just about right in front of where your right knee is. You may also have an intermittant open in the DRAC board (I had a similar problem with a circuit board intermittant open causing the speedo to bounce around on my Neon). More info on the DRAC.

on the codes there is a lot for the 91. witch would it be? its a 91 k5 just about all stock. thanks
