Howdy y'all. Long time no talk. I am about to encounter on another fullsize chevy. Found a nice looking 91 burb with 6" lift and 31s on it on craigslist. No shocks. What kind of shocks should I look at, and where should I be looking for them? Daily Driver, weekend warrior. Likely going to lose the rear lift in favor of a shackle flip with zero rates.

Whatcha think?

i'll list some brand's (like to dislike)
bilstein
doestch
rough country
rancho
pro comp

lots of stores, downsouthmotorsports.com has good prices on bilsteins and i think free shipping, roughcountry.com ive bought from them online never had problems. almost everyone here goes to off road design for parts:whistle:

I have a 4" lift and now i added shackles so it gave me a bit more lift and i run bilstein, best shock ive used so far, but still thats only my opinion

I have a 6" lift on my '91 'Burb with Rancho 9000RSXs (the 9 position adjustable ones) and love them. My lift is a Tuff Country EZ-Ride and it rides and performs excellent with those shocks. I see no reason to ever swap the springs out for a shackle flip.

Thoose ranchos are stiff correct? other words did you set them to be stiff

I think I'm going to go with procomp es9000's. Recommended by a friend of mine who has a shop for this kinda stuff. It's an all spring lift, so I'll leave it. Superlift springs. It's a 90, not a 91. Now, to quad shock or not? And where can i order a good drop pitman arm?

I always ran them on the softest setting and it rode soft, yet not mushy. And,that's with the cargo area (no 3rd seat) hauling my carpentry tools. It rode mushy with a trailer and that was the only time I switched the setting, which was all the way stiff. This Suburban is a diesel with quad front shocks. I left them soft all the time. Those shocks really give a dual purpose element to your ride. I don't know about the whole 9 position thing. But,from one end to the other made a noticeable difference. I can see using tight, medium, and soft.
I got mine from 4 wheel Parts Wholesalers.
