Is this stuff a bolt in?...I know I need the comp. to run the engine and trans right, but was wondering about everything bolting up including the front diff and suspension.
the engine is a 454, trans 4L80, 14bff rear and 9-1/4? front diff. Not looking to lift or anything, just make a better tow vehicle out of what I got. What about the t/c and driveshafts. I think the wheelbase is the same as my burb.

i have heard the bigger front diff is not a bolt in. needs some custom work. but cant tell ya for sure.

If you are going from a 8 lub 2500hd to a 1500 the frame and everything is different. Including most suspension and tranny mounts.

Its a 2500- 8 lug 92 model year....not an HD.
Frames still diff?

Nope, it's not a bolt in. Everything needs to be "made to work". Has been done before though.

The engine and the trans wouldn't be any harder than any other GM fullsize truck engine and tranny swap.

So the 454 wont fit in the 1/2t frame?
What is it that doesn't fit? bolt in stuff or fab and weld?
any links?

No, the engine and trans will. Just like bolting any other GM engine in a fullsize GM. Just find the right GM parts and that's all you need.

The front diff, axles, suspension, etc - nope. Custom fab time.

Technically it is a 2500hd. GM just didnt start badging them that way til 99. Yeah you have quite a bit of fab work to do.

8600 gvw...thats HD for those years then huh?

So do you know what different about the rear axle?

Rear axle...I think...should just bolt under the truck similar to any other swap. I'm fuzzy on the details since I haven't owned a IFS truck since 2002.

-There were the 2500LD's that had the 6 lug axles with a half ton IFS front and the the much wanted 6 lug 14SF rear end.
-Regular GVWR 2500's were 8 lug and had a 8 lug 14SF rear end.
-The highest GVWR 2500's had 14FF's but other than that weren't very different from the ones that got 14SF and lower rate springs.

thanks AJ....mostly I would like the 454. 4l80e and the 14bff.

Anythign wrong with the 3/4 ton frame/running gear? The bodies WILL swap to teh best of my knowledge, throw your 1/2 ton body on the 3/4 ton chassis. Yes, swapping a burb body would be a bitch, but probably easier in teh long run.

well my burb has seen a lot less salt than the 3/4 has.
