I just purchased a 1985 blazer with the 305 and the drive home uphill made me wonder about the 1992 suburban 1500 4x4 with the 350tbi/th700r4 sitting behind my house. I talked to the local parts/repair guy and he said the 1992 engine tranny will not bolt in. The tranny in the burb is a th700r4 not the 4l60E. Shouldnt I be able to poach the drivetrain and swap in the 350? It would help to use this vehicle as it passes smog in Ca, already has the basic bolt on performance parts, and is complete. Has anyone done this? Any help would be appreciated.

No reason you can't swap it, but you will need the computer and some wiring from the burb.

The 92 burb will have a 4l60e in it stock, your blazer has a 700r.

If you do it, i woudl suggest to do the whole swap, trans/engine, as the computer will be easier to setup with both there.

Good luck!

thanks for the information i will swipe everything out of the burb. By the way do you live down the street from a guy with a lifted jeep cherokee who works a swift dodge. I grew up in Davis and my brother still lives there and I swear that the house in your picture looks just like the one with a big blue truck in front of it.

Haha, its a small world. That pic is at my parents house in fremont though, not here in davis.

I could be mistaken but I seem to remember that it was still the 700r4 in 1992, but then again the days of killing a 700 monthly were a long time ago.

Its an early 1992 and it does indeed have the 700r4. I had to go underneath to check but i remember when I first bought it I had to buy both tranny filter kits as NAPA said both types found their way in there that year. As for the picture in Fremont, if your ever at Holiday Market in Davis and see a green lifted grand cherokee stay away as I think he lifted it to get over all of the curbs he doesnt see.

Haha, will keep an eye out. What is holiday market?

Holiday Market is the store near the burger king in South Davis and another one near Covell.
