I've hinted to this in another thread but thought I would start a new one. I found a free deal on a 92+ pickup cab and front clip to replace by rusty tub on my 85 K5. Does anyone have any build or any pics of this?
I'm only getting the frame and body, all the drivetrain is being stripped out, so there's no possiblity of swapping the other way.

it can be done. but full custom body mounts will be required. i was going to do it but skiped it. found a super 2wd body same year for mine instead.

there is just over a 10" width bigger distance to the body mounts on the 88-up new body stuff. so you will need some beefy custom body mounts made to replace the orignals on your frame. then its all basic from there.

The frames on the newer trucks are MUCH wider. It would be easier to swap your motor, tranny, axles and suspension under the pickup frame. HEres some motivation

I would actually feel better just fabbing the body mounts then redoing the suspension. I thought the fronts on those years had the ifs setup.

They do have the ifs but you could strip it all out. Maybe even sell some of it.

Guess that makes sense.. saw a SAS'd K1500 yesterday, looked like a skyy kit. The shackle was mounted inside of the frame and it was running an F250 D44.
