Whole dang thing. Getting the truck for a song. Runs good. There is problems with the title. Original lein holder went bankrupt. As did the second and third. I know I could probably work it out to get the title but I really don't want to as I have been trying now for a couple months.

So 6.5 and a 4l80 will make its way into my crew cab. It's a 93 so mechanical injection pump and standalone controlled trans. I will have the whole truck.

Should be a decent project. Shouldn't be too hard. Hopefully have it all up here in a month

Awesome! A 1992/1993 6.5 donor truck is a nice find indeed!
What drivetrain are you coming from?

Big block turbo 400 but nothing was in the truck when I got it

Should be a straight forward swap. Only issue will be if the truck has A/C, course that can be solved going with a Vintage Air setup.

It will be a bit before I get to it. But that's the plan. Just gonna cut the stock stuff down so the turbo fits.

I wish I had the 4l80, I think I've got the original th400 behind the 6.5 that was swapped into my burb.

Well my crew cab has 4.56s. With the overdrive gonna make things alot nicer. Cause I am gonna be rocking stock tires for a while

I have a 93 6.5 auto 4l80e 4x4 a 93 6.5 5 speed 2x4 and a 96 suburban 4l80 4x4 (93 is the best year hands down in my opinion)

I have owned 1985 k5 6.2 4x4 4 speed 89 k5 6.2 700r4 and 95 2 door tahoe 6.5 4l80 4x4

the 6.2 700r4 4x4 gets the best mileage but it has tall gears 4.56 just use up too much motor with stock size tires In my experience there is no power to the ground in comparison between a manual and auto in these things either. My 2x4 5 speed will put my 4x4 auto to shame just about almost all year long.

6.5s and 6.2s arent cheap to play with and get a bad name but thats because jackasses hammer om them like a small black.

Keep the gears high or tires tall if you want to hit the highway.

You could always use the s10 ac box in place of the full size.

Let me know if you need anything. I got diesel parts growing.

I would like to do a NV 4500 but this truck came up. Before my plan was a 6.2 with a banks kit but that is now gonna go in my Jimmy.

I have a sm465 but no overdrive means the 4l80 wins for me. My crew cab will eventually get bigger tires but it might be a while.

I mean in a perfect world my crew cab gets a duramax and 6 speed Allison or a 5.9 24 valve and a nv5600. And the jimmy would get a 6.0 LS motor.

Just looking forward to having a decent tow rig

I had a 99 6.5 l65 3500 and a 95 l56 and blew head gaskets in both. I personally would never put one in my truck. but like said above I did not take it easy on either truck.

please don't take what I said in a bad way though. just my opinion.

PS: I am certified jackass! And I think a truck should be able to take a beating

Thing is with that. I have known guys who blew up cummins at 125k no mods. I personally have blown up a 454 a 400 a couple of 350s

But I never blew up my slant 6 I tried really really hard too.

Like I said given a bunch of money a duramax and Allison would make its way into the crew cab. But it's what I got and it's what I am gonna make work.

I like the swap.

I like cheap, and using available deals.

.

Ya that's the thing, everybody has different experiences. Personally I've had the Banks turbo'd 6.2 in my K5 for 6 or 7 years and I beat the ever loving piss out of it. Just smiles, asks for an oil topup, and we're back in business.

Even the heads, I replaced mine last year. They didn't blow, but I had to pull the heads after an unfortunate paper-tower-in-the-intake incident. Took me a half day and cost about $200, no biggie.

Have the 93 6.5 / NV4500 to go in though, looking forward to it. Garage pad is scheduled to go down this week so I'll finally have some working space. :thumb:

I completely understand I am putting a sm465 in my truck and would much rather have a 5 speed but its what I got.

I just have had experience with them and wanted to talk. haha *bored at work

Lol no problem man. I hate though the 3 to 4 shift on 465s and 4500s. That is why I want a 5600. But I could title all my builds as rags to slightly better rags :D

I hear the duramax swap.

I wish....

yeah the beating on the 6.5 ti me is like. Oh my god 2500 rpms were done hahaha.

I seriously never spin over 2500 though unless its that are you kidding me moment and its time to get home. Then I literally start praying.

I have had the 465 but I cant picture one in ome of my duallys

I actually love the 4500 its tough and shifts well to me not too mention its rather forgiving in the case of clutch failure

I have had enormous problems with slave cylinders cracking though.

Someone on tulsa craigslist just had a 6.5 td with a 6 speed swap alledgedly missing just the driveshaft for rather cheap I believe.

If you're going to the 5600, go all the way to a G56 and lose 150 lbs. Now if I only had 4 or 5k extra laying around...

ZF6 would be super nice too! I love mine behind the dmax and I am sure it'd do great behind a 6.xL diesel too.

I beat the crap out of my old turbocharged 6.2L diesel at wide open throttle all the time and never had an issue with it after years and years of abuse. I ran an NV3500 behind it and it was also most excellent. I swapped an NV4500 out in favour of the NV3500.

Everyone i dove was a 4.11 tall tire 4L80 truck. Im trying to find optimum highway rpm for a little 6.5 in a 2wd im going
