i'm doing this build thread somewhat differently in that i'm posting it closer towards completion of the build instead of at the beginning and i'm including some older pics of the various changes my truck has gone through. anyway here it is: this is it in 2003, stock obviously
stockblazer.jpg

this is at a local wheelin' spot, at this point it had 32"BFGs, ridiculous cutout fender flares, and a warn front bumper with my own "creative" light mounts(you can kinda see them on there)

here it is right after finishing the SAS around 2005 i think, still had the fenders, a redesigned front bumper, a new square tube rear bumper ,4.56 gears, a rear locker and a front tru trac. i took it to a few places like this, mostly mudding and a few rocky areas but nothing too extreme

this was my first trip to the Rubicon in 2007, at this point i had cut most of the front bumper off because i wanted to tube it eventually, and by the end of this trip the fenders were no longer attached and my windshield had a nice spiderweb crack on the driver side
blazerrubicon.jpg

now it had a tube bumper and soon after this pic i added 63" rear springs and somewhere along the way i also built some half doors

and now for the real build to begin. my plans were to build a unique looking and more capable, stronger truck than i had before(isn't that everybody's) i started by completely stripping the interior, i then removed my entire wiring harness because it was shot and replaced it with a complete painless unit, i also removed and sold my old 4l60e and np241 t-case

i then added a new Holley TBI setup, 20gal fuel cell, and Summit ignition system

for the exterior i cut and sectioned the roof and moved the rear hatch and C pillar about 30" forward to give it a different look and a functional mini bed and began painting the entire truck flat black. i trimmed the rear fenders more to make room for the 40s and built rock sliders out of .250 square tubing

and this is basically how it sits now the wiring is done except for the gauges, i have a th400 tranny bolted up to the stock 350 and i'm waiting for my Stazworks 203/205 doubler adapter to come in so i can finish the drivetrain and get it moving again. I'll keep updating as progress continues

whats the reasoning for ditching the 4l60e? most people do the opposite of what your doing lol

strength and simplicity and i can't afford a 4L80E but i can manage without the OD because of the gearing and tire size i have

this is the last bit of bumper progress i could fit in tonight before my neighbors start complaining

and no i didn't set my camera on a tripod and set the timer, my dad took this one :wink1:

received my Stazworks doubler the other day and went ahead and mocked it together with no gaskets or sealant just to see how everything fits. i was pleased with the overall quality and completeness of the kit and for the price i think its a very good deal. included were some fairly broad but helpful instructions, misc hardware needed, required gaskets, a vent tube, and i opted for the triple stick shifter kit they offer which is very simple and straight forward to install and IMHO worth the extra money if you want a quick and sure fit shifter assembly...oh and its F-in heavy to say the least but looks sweet

it measures up at just around 18 3/4" from the face of the 203 to the end of the 205 rear output seal if anybody wanted to know

got the behemoth up in place and bolted to the tranny also set the shifter location, its up on a jack still until i can fab the x-member but when it's all done it will have a flat belly pan:waytogo:

Nice progress.... having everything clocked up with a full skid sure is good peace of mind when you start sliding over stuff. :)

did some exhaust work today its all 3 inch, no cat(cause i don't have to smog it:thumb:) and just a basic chambered muffler. i have it tacked for now in case i need to change anything but it will be all welded except for the 1 band clamp and it simply slides back then forward to remove the entire system. oh and still needs hangers

Nice. Exhaust through the bumper is unique, i kinda like it. Not that chrome is a thread here, but some sort of tip would look sweet, just make sure it doesn't stick out.

Nice build. Very cool.
What are your plans for the half cab? Are you going to have some windows made for the back or leave it open?

i redesigned the exhaust at the suggestion of a friend and i think it does look better and is more up and out of the way

Doesnt' the tire stuff right there in the fender though? I rubbed my tire in that spot with stock tires on that rig.
