So.... I picked this thing up today :waytogo: High miles, engine has a fuel delivery or ignition problem, but the tub is pretty solid and it will make an excellent truggy :D

Plan right now is:

Vortec 8100 / Allison 5 speed / NP261
3 link coil over Dana 60 front with a Grizzly locker & full hydro steering
4 link coil over 14BFF rear with a spool

The truck will have it's premium red interior gutted and a cage installed. It'll be narrowed front / rear and an exocage installed.

I'm thinking a set of 40" LTBs should do nice...

After selling the TBI 350 / 700R4 / NP241 I should pretty much break even on what I got the truck for :pimp: I was thinking Project Dark Phoenix? I dunno! Ya'll named Penny, so I think ya'll better name her evil twin :D

Don't try to name it. A name will surface all on it's own.

True! It needs to go to Blazer Bash or something :haha:Also, there is already a rig in the area called the Dark Knight and another called the White Knight haha

This truck is going to start off as a cheap beater to have fun at the local course, I'll do the SAS after I break the IFS :D

Why a 3 link if your going full hydro? Wouldn't 4 link work better and be less confusing to set up?

Oh and I suggested a name for it the other night I guess... Forgot till I read on your other thread lol.
I woke up saturday thinking "did russel really buy a black blazer... Or did I dream that...":thumb:

Hey Russ, instead of being selfish and blowing all your money on yet another rig, you should do the charitable thing and donate to my build fund ;)

hahaha! What can I say?! I'm raised in a me, and me and only me generation

I got my solid axles for this thing... mid 2000s Dodge 1 tons front / rear.

Finally got around to picking this thing up and bringing it home. Winds up the fuel injection works great! However, no amount of properly working EFI is gonna make this engine run again, sounds like just about every bearing in the bottom end is spun. Squeaks, rattles and knocks like no-ones business, doh!!

Oh well, it'll sit for a while until I find a suitable big block to put into it, lol

Finally got some nice weather today and got a chance to give this thing a closer look-over. Looks to be in pretty good shape mechanically. The tires are good, tight steering, good suspension bushings etc. I'm kind of thinking I may just pick up a TBI 350 to swap in and get it through the out of province inspection it needs to be registered for now. I am also considering a 6.0L / 4L80e, but I have no idea what kind of implications that'd have with the inspection it needs, lol

Stopped by a fella's place the other day, busted out my tool kit and yanked me out a new 350 for this thing!

The old engine does run, although quite horribly due to multiple spun bearings and a blown headgasket. Guessing by the deep bottom end knock and lope, she may have a shortened rod or two. Based by the volume and level of smoke coming out, I am guessing there is likely a hole in the block as well :haha:

Regardless, I did manage to get it started and began backing it off the trailer. It then stalled half way down and the battery was too dead to re-start it :doah:So it sat like that for 15 minutes while I put the charger on the battery so I could get it going again (while my neighbors were peeking out through the blinds due to the god awful sound this thing makes while running :D)

After getting it running again, I managed to two foot it into shop. It started to seize up just as I was rolling through the door, so I dropped it into neutral and rolled the rest of the way. Even with the battery charged it won't crank over anymore. At least it made it into the shop and offered me the fortune of not having to get out and push :thumb:

New heart is sitting on the shop floor just within sight!

Finally finished the engine swap in this thing... It ran like crap until I figured out that I accidentally crossed plugs 4 and 6 on the distributor (doh!!). It needs new transmission cooler lines (I welded a hole shut in one, lol!) and it also needs a new oil pan as the one it has has a hole in the side for some reason and leaks a bit. Otherwise it runs exceptionally well, shifts good, drives straight, stops nice. Should be a good candidate to kick the crap out of this coming weekend, LOL

So. This truck is an animal lol! Took 2nd place in the drag races today, stock V8 class. The rig that beat me was an 98 360 powered grand Cherokee, couldn't quite catch that thing! She got me off the tree and I just hung out about 1/2 a truck length back both times I raced her. I beat every other truck in my class by at least one full length.

I think the truck has a custom tuned memcal in it. The 4l60e shifts at 5500rpm and it friggin grabs the next gear, no sloppy stuff. The engine is a stock tbi 350 with the timing / fuel pressure set at stock. When it was shifting 2 - 3 it was busting the tires loose.

Tomorrow we have a slalom course we are going to race on as a timed event. The Blazer seems to hand extremely well with a set of aftermarket shocks of some sort. It has impressive suspension control out back, it doesnt have the same kind of rebound problems my old K5s or my Tahoe has. It has front and rear sway bars and doesn't lean at all. Low slung, 4wd and pretty quick! Should do well if I don't break it tomorrow lol
