Ok So I bought a 93 S10 From my uncle , and he had given me 3k f reciept's for it . Anyway's he told me it has been acting up. Well anyway's It started right up for me , and I hooked up my tow bar and towed it home. Then the other day I pulled it out of the garage to get the lawn tractor out and it died in the street in front of my house. It ran great then I hit the accel to idle it up and it died again. After that it just cranked awesome ,but wouldn't fire. needless to say I had to drag it back into the garage with my tractor lawnmower because I was by myself and couldn't push it up the hill:doah:.
I tried to crank it again and it still wouldn't start.

I did a compression test , and that was good, coil has power , it has spark at the plug's, but still no start. I took a screwdriver to the fuel fitting where you would hook up a gauge and it squirt's fuel out when the key is on like crazy. I am just boggled by this. Doe's anybody have any idea's?

Oh it is a 4.3L CPI .

Could be the IAC valve or the EGR valve. Give it just a little throttle when you start it. The IAC controls the idle, sometimes it idles it too low. That or could be the spider is leaking. Not sure what goes bad, O-rings I've heard, but I got lucky (I think) cause mine has been replaced. If it smells like gas around the engine or tailpipe, then it could be the spider.

on the CPI engines theres a few things that like to go wrong, if you are sure you are getting a good spark at the plugs next check to see if the injector is pulsing, to do this use a test light and hook it up to the injector plug on the side that goes back to the ECU, no have sombody crank the engine and see if the light flashes if so you are getting injector pluse, Next you will want to check your fuel pressure, CPI is very picky with its fuel pressure it needs to be around 60 at the test port, even though you have fuel there it could not be enough pressure. Start there and see what results you get fromt that

Sounds like what mine did when the Ecu took a dump somtimes when we would go out there and try and start it it would start fine but the next time nothing would crank and crank and then the next day it would start.

Mine does that sometimes. Drive it around it's fine, shut it off for a couple minutes, starts fine. But if you let it sit for an hour or so, would start hard. Let it sit over nite, and would start fine again. The thing has some ba!!s, but the CPI crap is a major PITA!!!! If it wasn't for that, I would have a 350 in there by now....

yea this problem is a pain i had the same thing, check the pickup coils restance, its under the cap and plugs into the ignition modual, i bet its on the high end of the spec and on its way out

Ok I looked an alldata require's 51-60 PSI Fuel Pressure. It has 55 On the gauge. Got a pic of where the injector plug is?

the intake side is circled in red you want to test the other side of the connector for the pluse, also check the restance of the injector using the connector circled

Ok Got it to start. It run's good , and my Check engine light is on as well. Towed it to a shop a friend manage's and he look's at it . Scan's it and it is code 32 , and code 34

They seem to think it need's a map. But now it start's all the time and run's good. What do you guy's think?
