My dad's '94 Z71 350 (5.7) TBI w/92k original rattles like a can of beans when getting on it. Any ideas on what it would be?? SHould they have it looked at??
Sounds like it is pinging. That is from predetonation. Meaning the fuel air mixture is being ignited before it should, and it is trying to force the piston back down, when it is trying to finish coming up. Check the timing, and the wires to make sure thay are not arcing. Also alot of carbon buildup in the cylinders can cause pinging, but check your timing first.
is it throwing any codes? Does it happen when you hit bumps or just when you get on the gas? Could be broken up crap in the cat or muffler if it happens when you hit bumps too.
