Ok all,

1995 Yukon GT with 216,500 miles on her.

Up in Alaska in '04 (145,000 miles) I thought I was hearing a "clang" in my front supspension when I hit bumps, but now I think it is a squeak.

I've checked everything several times for tightness, and had a shop check things too. My girlfriend claims she can hear it from her car when she is driving behind me.

It happens when I hit bumps. It seems to squeak on both the up and down strokes. I'm thinking it may be the IFS bushings squeaking... but not sure.

Has anyone heard this on their IFS rig?
Solved it?

Is there something I can do to 'lube' the bushing that won't harm things?

I love my truck, but the squeak is getting annoying!

Thanks,

-Ben

I had the same problem and it was shock eye's in the shock towers. I got some cheap metal tubing at the hardware store and cut inserts to keep the eye located in the middle of the tower and the squeaking went away.

Have you tried jouncing the truck while it is sitting still to make the noise? We usually have one person jounce while another moves around and touches everything till we find the noise. If something is squeaking, you can usually feel a vibration in it too.

silicone spray to lube the bushings temporarily should work.

if not, cut it all out and add a Dana 44. :deal:

The sway bar bushings wear quickly and could also make the noise you describe after they disentegrate and the washers start rattling around. That's happened to most of the IFS trucks that I've seen.
