So my truck just stalls. It normally does it about once every 2 weeks, but tonight it stalled like a dozen times. No smoke, no stumble, hesitation, nothing like that. It is running fine, and just stalls. Throw it in neutral and it fires right back up, and runs fine. Only once did I actually have to pull over, and then it started right up.
Now I know about the PMD/FSC problems that these trucks are notorious for. Is this how they act when it goes bad? That being said, it has been relocated to the front bumper with a big anodized aluminum heat sink. That's not to say it cant go bad again, just throwing that out there. It normally isn't a big deal, because it was only once in a while, and wouldn't do it again, but tonight was terrible.

Does this sound like the PMD? Any other ideas?

I'd initially agree that it sounds like a PMD failure. If not that, then I'd be checking the optical pickup in the injection pump.

One more thing to check is the fuel tank...my BIL had one that the tank collapsed, the fuel cap was plugged and didn`t vent. :doah:
Also the lift pumps on 6.5 go bad often. :dunno:

Lift pump is a Holley black electric. Shouldn't it sputter or run funny before stalling if it was a fuel delivery problem? :dunno:

You would think so!
I' m not sure what your problem could be for sure but I know that all of the things you said Russ said and what I said have all happened to my BIL.
He has a bunch of them and they all have given some sort of fuel problem at one point.
Have you tried the fuel filter?

Fuel filter is fairly new, maybe 3000 miles.

What's a BIL?

That's the same thing my dad's 96 did. It started just every now and then. He put it off a coulpe of months then it would only go 5-6 miles and die. Although his PMD was still mounted to the pump.

I would say yours is going bad as well, does yours have the heat trans pad in between PMD and heatsink?
