Yep. It's been burning a ton of oil on #4 or #6 (I can't remember) and he was talking about rebuilding it. I told him a while ago to just yank it and put in a gen 6 454.

Yeah, i'm well over 1000 miles away from this deal but could be tempted if it were closer. A halfway decent 4L80 is impossible to find for me locally.
Probably going to get a reman 4l85 for my '02 burb and refresh the old one to put in the blazer someday, whenever it finally needs it.

I have the same thing in mind. I also have a '91 V2500 with the 4L80e. The TBI 350 isn't cutting it. Love the burb but it doesn't like mountain passes, especially with snowmobiles or my raft trailer.

With 190hp in 1991, I think there is around 125 left in mine.

if you have a 4L80 just get a 454 / 4L80 combo wiring and bolt it in and flash the pcm that you get with it .

no need to reinvent the wheel when gm did it factory . you might need to update your early 4L80 internal wiring if it never got done before . otherwise bolt and go plug and play for the most part .

if me i would grab this whole combo and swap it as one and swap t-case to yours and go . newer 4L80 internals and known good working combo with least amount of swap problems . save old as spare or sell it off get money back .
