I had the truck for about a year and its always done this... Noise has not changed except its a little louder when its cold out and it takes longer for it to get quiet. Here are the details.
96 Suburban 1500 5.7 Auto with pushbutton 4wd not Auto 4wd... just 2 4hi 4lo. 175K well maintained miles. All fluids are clean and full.
when accelerating and braking and with load change I get a fairly loud gear type whine... Like a ring and pinion noise which I thought it was. I rebuilt the rear end with no change in noise.
The noise goes away completely in 4wd and stays away under all conditions until I switch back to 2wd.
I have not confirmed.. but I believe this has a NP241 T case. has anybody run into this?
Do I replace the tcase... or is it a simple fix?
