1/2 ton status
Locally there is a 97 3/4 ton for sale. It has about 120,000 miles. Standard cab long bed with leather and new ball joints and misc. parts. He said the engine is knocking. The story is that he was pulling a tractor on a flat bed trailor, and started loosing power. He drove it a couple days later and it started knocking. He took it to someone to look at it and said without getting into it that it sounded like a wrist pin or the crankshaft. I guess my first question is, is that a good deal for the truck itself? It has aftermarket wheels and mud terrain tires, also the original wheels and tires. Power everything.
350 auto. I was gonna go check it out tomorrow afternoon. He would probably take less since he bought a new truck to replace it.
Second question. I have a 350 with 91,000 miles out of my 79 k-5. If it did turn out that the rods are knocking or the crank is bad. Could I use the bottom end of my engine and transfer the vortec heads and all that over and still retain the same amount of power they had from factory? I was thinking about buying it if it turns out looking good, and fixing the engine to keep the truck, or maybe turning around and makin a little money on it. Tell me what you all think.
