Hi does a 97 k3500 dually quad cab 4wd frt have independent frt supspension or solid frt axle.The oil pan needs to be chged and I'm wondering what the best way to do it is Thanks

Should be ifs
All 1 ton Chevy's after 91 are IFS.

Not 100% true, arent the 2wd 3500's HD SFA?
Considering we're talking about 4WD hence the K3500 in his heading and not 2WD I-beam axles don't count.

K30, this is not pirate, we do not attack members for the thrill of being keyboard warrior, chevysmithz71 im sure did not mean to offend you, he was just simply having a little fun, once he stopped you should have also
this is a great site for information and help from some great people that know what there talking about, when i was new to this site, i asked certain questions that i got poked fun at because they were no brainers but the more i searched on here and the more i learned the more knowlageable i became.
take the time to learn somethings before taking a simple joke way to personal.
the mods are busy and i know im not one of the old timers of this site, but i have been around a while on here and i feel that attacking members is something that needs to be reported.
so K30 back off and take it easy. learn a little on here and have fun dont come out of the gate with a big head.
the mods have done a great job making this site what it is and keeping in line the bad apples that think every site is just like pirate

Your way off base with the big picture AND one sided I'll leave it @ that !!
This is a two way street... chevysmithz71 threw the first attack out there and started this BS. Everything after that was like watching the special olympics...
- Install the oil pan to the engine.
- Install the oil pan bolts, nuts, and strut rods, (if equipped).
- Tighten the oil pan bolts and nuts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) .
- Install the oil filter and adapter.
- Install the oil cooler line retainer to bracket (if equipped).
- Install the flywheel/torque converter inspection cover. Refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
- Install the exhaust crossover pipe. Refer to Exhaust System.
- Install the transmission oil cooler line retainer to the bracket, (automatic transmission only).
- Install the front drive axle, please refer to Transmission and Drivetrain/Differential Assembly/Service and Repair/ See: Transmission and Drivetrain\Differential Assembly\Service and Repair
- Install the front propeller shaft to front axle, please refer to Transmission and Drivetrain/Differential Assembly/Service and Repair/ See: Transmission and Drivetrain\Differential Assembly\Service and Repair
- Install the underbody shields.
- Remove the safety stands.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the oil level indicator.
- Connect the battery negative cable assembly to the battery negative terminal.
- Tighten the bolt to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.) .
- Fill the engine crankcase with the proper quantity and grade of engine oil.
Do those steps in reverse, then follow them to install. Also, learn how to use all data, that came off of alldata.
That's a legit question man not BS... if k30 owns this truck and aparently knows it needs to have the oil pan changed yet he doesn't even know if it's IFS or SFA then yeah... I'd be asking if he was qualified to do something that simple as well...

Like it was said, just leave it alone. As a rule, hostility is met with the ban stick around here.
On another note, definitely start reading anything you can get your hands on begining with a basic haynes or chilton manual for your truck. Gauging from your question, you have alot to read and learn about your vehicle. I know that when I signed up, I was already pretty mechanically inclined, but still green when it came to fullsize chevy trucks/blazer/subs. Just from reading on the site, I learned so much more that I would have otherwise.
Something that will help you tremendously is to sign up for a membership so you can search the forums for information that otherwise would be impossible to find from scanning titles for page after page. Spending $25 now will pay itself back many times over the next several years as you learn more and more about doing the regular maintenance on your truck. Heck just in oil changes it can pay for itself after 2 or 3 times. Plus it will help you learn from other peoples mistakes instead of having to learn the hard way, plus spending money one time is always better than spending that same amount of money 2 or 3 times.
