I just got a the 97 suburban and the rear heat is not working, does anyone know if there is coolant lines running to the back or is it an electric heater. What should i check for on it and has anyone had this problem and cured it. Its alot of vehicle to heat by just the front one and I need to get it working.

yes, it has ccolant lines to the rear, could be a bad blend door actuator back there.

Make sure both coolant lines to the rear heat are getting hot, they are easy to get to as they are under the right rear corner of the burb. It's pretty common for the dex-cool to plug up heater cores. If the core is plugged remove the heater hoses and back flush with a garden hose and flush that nasty orange stuff out of the rest of the cooling system while you're at it.

i have wondered the same thing, my moms had hers for about 5 years and now that i know about truck and stuff, the a/c heat system in those things are crazy! but it works good.
