Before I drag it to the dealer I figured I would try to get an idea of what may be wrong. It is a 97 turbo diesel 2500 Suburban. My wife was driving it when she said the idle raced up on it then the engine just cut out and would not start again. She also said there was a really bad smell of burning plastic. It has 129000 miles on it and I had the whole injection system relaced at 115000 miles under warranty. It is dark out so I cannot really take a good look at it til Saturday but when I lifted the hood I could smell the scent of burnt wires near the battary. And they are quite corroded. I have replaced the terminals before. Would this stop the truck from starting. It turns over but will not start. thanks for any help you can give
