'99 4 Door Tahoe SAS Build, Taking it back a few years

So I guess since everyone is tip toeing around this, Prichette’?
That thought actually crossed my mind for the first time this afternoon. The answer is “I’m not going to be shooting for it in 2021.” Get these 40’s under it and make the Tahoe work properly with them, that’s the goal. Probably one day.

But it’s certainly a step toward that direction.

It’s easy if your old ass can see. Have a decent helmet?

Not the one you wear on the Honda...

Just because I can weld as good as you doesn’t necessarily mean “I CAN WELD”.

Get some grinding wheels too. Start with those and then use the flap disc to finish. Goes faster.

I prefer a lower grit but quality, flap wheel. I bought a bunch of 40's and 60's from benchmark abrasives and they make quick work of booger welds or blending long seam welds.

This is what I use. 40/60 grit double thick from benchmark for bulk removal. 80/120 for finish stuff

I'd have to try them. I'm always impressed with how quick a grinding wheel can knock welds and such down. But they do send the sparks flying.

I have these and they cut quicker than a grinding wheel. I very much prefer these.

That was my experience.
I couldn't believe it when a friend of mine used when he was helping on my truck, I had to try it.
Sure enough it works better.

If you can find some scrap 1/4” steel, that will be great at helping you figure out your technique and dial in the welder settings.

The last reply’s... It’s funny to me how much welding and seeing makes such a difference . I was never great and sometimes downright embarrassing but the few welds I actually did good was when I had good light and clear vision.
And yeah flap disks are the shit!
I like Walter disks the best.
