'99 4 Door Tahoe SAS Build, Taking it back a few years

I haven't had a bad trip yet.

Next year we need a motorcycle day.

They are almost out of cabins already. And I had to take a middle RV spot as almost all are booked.
Motorcycle will need to happen! We talked about, I even brought my gear. Just wasn’t able to fit it into this trip, like we should have. Next trip, it’s happening! Even if I have to bring my own bike (or a second) to get it done.

Moab on a dirt bike is amazing. I had a few friends fly out last year and I put them on my spare bikes. We rode/camped for a week. Best trip I’ve had yet

Well, most of you know my B.B. damage from the carnage thread. Or you were there to see it in person. But after being home now for a couple of days, I’ve realized I got quite a lengthy list:

•Passenger front fender - bounced hard right front on Metal Masher at some point and forced the fender back. In turn the door caught it and rolled the fender in after opening.
Front leaf springs - They were already tired. 3/4 of the way through Kane Creek the bottom spring snapped on the right front. I did a temporary repair, but they HAVE to be replaced now.
Both Passenger Doors - Turned right too early off an obstacle on Kane Creek and caught both doors. White doors are plentiful.
Winch and winch mount - After using the winch on Moab Rim, I left the control hooked up. After climbing in and out of the door several times the wire got pinched and shortened out internally causing the winch to destroy itself and the mount in the process. Made a mess!
•Left Front Axle seal leak - Typical random issue that popped up. A simple but lengthy repair.
Intake Manifold leak - Noticed on Golden Spike when I had a long up hill climb that I could smell oil. Turns out the intake manifold started leaking from the rear of the block. Another fun repair.
Beadlock wheel - when I got to Amarillo I noticed 4 bolt heads missing off the left rear tire bead lock. This has happened a couple of times before, but these were fresh bolts. It’s always on the left rear, even though I’ve swapped the wheels around. So I’ve got that to fix, and figure out why it’s happening.
And The Transmission - This is the biggie. It was bound to go out sooner or later. It’s been showing the signs. I’ve got to replace it, but with what? If I do anything different than the 4L60, which I will, the driveshafts with need to be changed. And if I’m changing shaft lengths, mite as well do the doubler.

Ive got a lot to do!! I’m building a shop finally. Concrete gets poured next week. The Tahoe will be the first project inside it, and she’s going to be down for a while!

Winch too. All the crossbars, the cable and hook, etc. it can be rebuilt, but a lot of parts. Mite be better to start over. Have to see.

He bent the $hit outa the winch frame when it sucked down.
Yep, didn’t realize it until I got home. Winch mount is now junk. It sucks, because they are hard to find now. Ultimately, I was going to Change the setup anyway. The approach angle sucked with it up there.

An idea for the beadlock problem. Are the rings sitting tight on the wheel? Or is the bead too thick causing there to be a gap when torqued down? If there is a gap look into ring spacers. The bolts like to snap/loosen up when the ring is floating around/coning. I have to run spacers on mine with the thicker beads on 37”s and up

I need to try something along these lines. Maybe the beadlock isn't seating all the way down. I'm on the second set of tires on these wheels. One of the Iroks had an issue. It was on the left rear and it wouldn't seat quite as well as the others. In turn, bolts broke. I swapped tires, new set of bolts, moved the wheel around, and still broke bolts on the left rear. Could be a coincidence.
