I have a 99 silverado and it has a 261 t-case, but I was under the impression that only the auto trac t-cases were the 261. I have a lever for the shifter, not the push button 4x4. It's not the full time 4x4 so i'm confused? Anyone have any info on the difference between the mechanical linkage and the push button 261?

Thanks

NVG transfer case models that end in a "1" are manual shift models. The 261 is an updated and slightly stronger version of the 241. If it was a 263, it would be electric shift. The auto trac case is a 246, and there is no auto-trac version of the 261 which is why you can't get auto-trac in an HD pickup.
