Would it be worth it to swap in one of the SF 14b metric rear axles I have in a few pickups, in place of the stock 10b? I do belive the shock mounts are differnt but im pretty sure the gear ratios are the same. Dunno about the spring perches.

It probably wont see much wheeling but may get used to tow a bit and beef is always better right?

man I am having a hard time deciding what way to go with this yukon!

I should just SAS it and build it beefy, yet nice!

I swapped a 6 lug 14b semi float out of a 94 light duty 3/4 ton (6lug) to my 86 blazer. I considered swapping it under my 96 Yukon before I cut off the old perches to fab under the 86. If I remember correctly (99% sure) it would have been a direct bolt in.

i would SAS and be done!!:D everyday i want to buy a two door tahoe and do that. i love those trucks!

I have a 99 four-door...:thinking::doah:

When you say metric rear axle, do you mean the newer ones (99+) with disk brakes? Might be a cool swap. Gotta get it from a truck though, the 2000+ tahoes and burbs are coil rear.

In 1988 the GM pickups went to 14mm wheel studs the SUVs in 93. So if someone says a metric 14b then it has 14mm wheel studs rather than the 7/16. Im pretty sure all GM fullsize trucks and SUVs use 14mm wheel studs after 93.

Anyway I have a 94 6 lug GMC 2500 that has the metric SF14B and my 97 GMC is a Z71 and also has the metric SF14B. My 99 yukon has a metric 10B. Im fairly sure all 3 are 3.73 gear ratios. I think the spring perches would be the same but I dont know if the shock mounts would be the same. ALso all 3 are drum brakes.

THAT brings me to wondering about a disk brake cionversion for the SF14B. This would also make breaking a c-clip less of a worry because the caliper would keep the axle from sliding out. (although it would rub your brakes if it did go).

OHH KERT??? where are you?
