it should work....

i have an 85+ th400 that has a 208 on it and a 205 with a 32 spline short input gear.

the figure 8 and round adapters are both 4 inches thick or so but the input gear length and output shaft changed.

can i use the long input gear in a figure 8 case on the 85+ th400?
im thinking theres nothing wrong with that.

The 205 inputs will interchange and I know the th400/208 tailshaft is the same as an 85+ th400/205 tailshaft so I would think it should work just fine. I've never compare the adapter lengths but if they're the same then bolt those parts together! :thumb:

I'm having similair confusions right now to. I have a 84 th400 with a 208 mated to it and i was reading on ORD doubler page that in order to mate a 203 to it i need to pull the 208 off and machine a 203 with a figure 8 pattern and then use the th400/208 adapter and it will bolt up no problem?

you need to drill/tap the round 6 pattern from the 208 adaptor in the 203 range box. NOT the fig 8 setup.

my goofed up redrill with 241 adaptor on 4l80-e

watch for clearenceing of the 4 bolt heads for the seal retainer on the 203 to the 208 adaptor.

just use set screws with red locktite on the extra holes from the 203 pattern. and use some on the lower pin also to help seal it. and i used 1 hole lower to hold the custom pin tab i made.

So will any gm 203 work? Im gonna need to mate a 205 to this later for the doubler.
