a 3/4 350??

I just got a mid 90s work astrovan with a 4.3 (w/ps & alt only), I want to pull the intake and put a carb intake on it for another project I have. I've been reading about the 4.3's b/c this is the first one I've ever had.

What is up with this balance shaft in the lifter valley and some kind of wierd crank I've been reading about. Will the edelbrock carb intake fit on these balance shaft motors w/o a ton of mods? Is there anything else I have to do to go carb with this motor?

I'd like to replicate the rams horn exhaust if possible. Are there any companies that make a rams horn exhaust manifold for the 4.3 V6?

wow, no comments at all?? i'd really like some info on the 4.3 v6. its a 93 model van. this is first one i've had. i wish i could find an exhaust manifold for a 4.3 that looks like the old sbc rams horn, i think that would look neat. has anyone ever seen a set or no if there were any ever made to look like ramshorn exhaust??

IIRC, there was an early 4.3 VORTEC engine, I think that's what you have...

Yep he has the first gen vortec 4.3. A tbi intake will bolt to the heads. There is a spot on the bottom that has to be ground down to clear the balance shaft.

i'm wanting to go w/carb intake. its already fi'd its a 93 astro.

The intake should bolt up. Just set it on there and spin the motor over to make sure it clears.

i dont have a carb intake yet. that was point of this post, to find my best intake & hei choices.
