Nice work man. Annoying how little $hit can eat up so much time like that. Hopefully the temps drop soon and you guys get some rain, I know you need it!

The are talking about rain this weekend. :woot: first time in like 4 months. I seriously can't wait. If it does happen, it will be cool for pushing deer as the opener is this weekend, too. :waytogo:

Right on!! Keep up the good work!

Thanks brother, gunna try. :D

Woot! good to see you back in the shop man!

It was only 89 out there on Sunday, so hopefully with it cooling down like they say, there should be more garage time. Just too burnt out on the heat this year.

I don't know how you can do it with that heat! :doah:

Nice job on that tank... cool jig! :waytogo:

Me either..:haha: it's pretty nice when I go grab my snow shovel in a couple of months and remember....... I don't own now anymore.. :pimp:

The jig was cool, but it would have been nice with one of those roller things to bend it. It turned out to be a total pain in the ass putting that bent piece in. There may, or may not be some dents in the new metal the shape of a two pound sledge, that was due to frustration. :doah:

Are you pressure testing this? We used to dial em up to approx 4 psi and brush soapy water along every seam on the tank. Foreman used to 'charge' us a buck a pinhole. I only ever had one tank that didn't cost me at least a buck or two.

Yep, sure am. I picked up the stuff at Ace after work today. So you think 4 psi, huh? We were thinking more like 20 with the soapy water? That might blow it up tho.

My main goal is to have less than 12 pinholes. Eric said the last time he did one, he had 13.

That would just reaffirm, that I'm most awesomer than he is....:thumb:

Like everyone doesn't know that already though... :D :haha:

At least I am better looking always be older better looking and more awesomer. Sorry man just how the world works

Yeah, go slow on the pressure, 4 psi is a ton as it is. Even at 4 psi you'll visibly notice the tank grow. We just used Dawn dish soap and water in a spray container, or with a brush. You're about to learn how critical all the stop/start areas really are. :doah:

Yeah, 20# is hella too much...I can attest, so can my aluminum tank repair guy!

Yeah Mike.....

Listen to the guys who have actual experience and know what they're talking aboot...

Texting your NH buddy is fast, but he gives bad advice (unless you actually WANT a football). :haha:

On the plus side, if you do go with that much pressure you'll probably beat your goal of less than 12 pin holes. Sure, you'll have that one REALLY big one, but it's all about the numbers, right? :P

always be older

This is all I got out of that post. :woot:

Yup everyone knows Eric brings the sexy!:doah:

Didn't read....

Now I'm all freaked out. There was a lot of starting and stopping on the thin sheet metal. Not enough to let it grow cold, just enough of a stop to where I didn't blow through.....and yes, there was some of that too. Lol

Thanks Dave. I really didn't know what a good test number would be. I just went with some guys advise with a lot more edjumication, than me.

Dude, I wasn't going to bust ya out like that.

I said.... "We".... :haha:

I did hook everything up the other night, but the temp fix I did with the Permatex didn't dry and hold. It just blew out the pick up tube. Maybe I can get a couple of minutes to take that off, throw some silicone on it and test it. :thumb:

Ps.... It raining for the fist time in forever and I'm packed up to go kill me a Bambi. So excited.. See you guys on Tuesday. :D

I could so beat him using that philosophy. Nice going Ash.

If all you want to do is shoot deer you can come to my place. You can do it from the dining room window....they come every morning to eat the fruit off the pear tree...... it's about a 20 foot shot though, could be challenging.

We've got 13 turkeys that roam the neighborhood too. You could eat pretty well while you're here. I'll fill the fridge with BudLight cans, and we'll make it a party!

Awesome idea. You buy the ticket, ill bring the gun. :waytogo:

We'll get hammered on BL and fancy beer, shoot stuff and blow up your gas tank with air pressure. I'm so in.

Let's fockin' party..... :woot:

6 bucks, Rene. :D

Actually it's $7' but one was an old weld I found a pinhole on an outside seam.

Three corners and three ( one top, two bottom) where the dish piece was originally tacked to hold it in the center. There were more than a couple of tacks in those areas due to beating and breaking them loose. Everyone was on a start and stop or over some fairly big tacks. I knew I should have ground those down first...:doah:

Overall, I'm pretty happy. They should be some some easy repairs when I get back.

Test again at 20psi!!!!!!! :haha:

I did, by mistake.... :doah:

I test ALOT of boat tanks.. it was a 250gal dizzle tank... usually it's a cl*ster**** of adapting to get into various tanks..

the valve stuck open... :eek1:

got to 25 before I could shut it down... tank was 3/4 full too.. usually I just go to 3, maybe 4...

it actually held fine, no real swelling, etc... :dunno:  :haha:

One time after I crested a hill at the dunes the peak dented my right side tank in, huge dent. I stuffed a rag around the hole and my air nozzle and started trying more pressure until I heard a big pop noise. The dent was gone! You could still see a small crease where it was but it was gone. I don't remember what pressure it was but I started small and worked my way up. Plus I was sealing it with a rag and my hand so it couldn't build up too much pressure.
