Beer isn't free!

Yeah, right. My friends seem to think that I have a sign hanging out front that reads just that.

I always get the same answer as they're head's first into the beer fridge.

"Ya don't bring sand to the desert, do ya"

Dicks, all of them.. :haha:

How big are those shackles and where'd you get them Mike? It's been long enough since I've seen mine, that I don't remember how big the brackets are. I think they're 3/4" :doah:

why didn't you get the big ones? :D
:haha:

I hear ya, they are kinda stupid huge. They do say USA on the shackle though, so they are pretty cool. When's the last time that anyone actually seen USA stamped on something?

Had some time on Sunday to weld the front together. Not super interesting, but a step forward, nonetheless.

Drilled some 1/2 holes for some plug welds between the outer and the inner 3/4" piece.

Starting to weld them up.

Welded the 3/4" stock to the interior.

Drilled some more holes in the the filler piece, welded to the 3/4" and finish weld around the outer of the two.

Did a little smoothing of the ends. Still need to do a lot more.

Installed in the horns again. The two pieces on top of the frame with all of the holes will get wrapped around the entire recovery point to hide the two outer sandwiched pieces from view.

in a couple of years I expect to see a pic of your blazer hanging from a crane by one of these recovery points... just because you can. :P

LOl, that would be a good way to pressure wash the underside, Huh? :D

You going to need some ballast weight for the rear end of that blazer.:D

Are you doing something trick like that back there too?

As much as these weigh, they will still be a lot lighter than a full fabbed up winch bumper. Even by the time I build the tube behind the original, I'd still say that it will be lighter with a much better approach angle. (Hopefully) :D

The back is prolly what is on the list next. I don't have the cash for the seats yet, but can spring for two more shocks. At that time I'll do the tank and fab up something coming out the rear. It would be nice to have a rear winch, but it's not in the funds, I don't think.

ps. Great talking to you this weekend, Dean. :waytogo:

That is now one of the main reasons that I am going to pack up the truck and head on up..

I want to listen to a drunk Dean kickin' that accent all night. lol

The rig will be at BB some year. I keep saying next year.... Tho, I'm finally at the point that I just want to beat Greg there by one year.

Not much of a push, is it.... :doah:  :haha:
