Blue Sharpies are definitely the way to go.

I fought it for a long time and tired to use the black ones.... Even the "industrial" version loses its mojo after just a few lines on greasy metal. The blue ones are WAY better and really last. The ink almost reminds me of Dykem the way it lays down initially.

Your fabrication skills are getting better and better Mike , I can really see it in your welds and part fitment. Do you ever go back and look at the photos from early in your build to compare? :D

The plan right now is to take some of Labor Day weekend to get to the shop and start putting the front sheet metal back on. Then just need to bleed the brakes, load it on a trailer, and haul it home. We'll see if that really happens, or not.

The cuts for the winch plate have got to be sooooo much easier with the plasma. Looks awesome.

That will be so damn cool for you having the rig at your own place. If nothing else, some nights, just walking around it after work having a beer and relaxing. Beleive it ir not, those nights have proven to be priceless on my build. Some good ideas can come out of just a couple of hours doing unplanned circles throughout the garage.

I was thinking the same thing.
Loving watching your plan come together. Good stuff!

Thanks Ash. :waytogo:

What'd you use as the template for the semi-circles on the bottom Mike? Neer can?

You can see in the third pic or so, a couple of washers next to one of the cut out pieces. What I did was tack two 1/2" washers together. Made three sets and tacked them to the bottom plate. 30 seconds with the plasma and boom, I'm done. That really would have taken a good hour getting everything ready to drill those half circles the old way.

The plasma rocks... lol

Like you, I've tried just about everything to mark stuff. Finally I was reading over on pirate and the blue sharpie came up... I have never went back. In fact, I just bought another box for the garage on Friday.

Thanks Greg. You would hope after this many hours my skill set would improve. I think that it really has too. It all comes down to the guys posting up pics of what they have built in the past. Sometimes just getting a small glimpse of an idea will push me in the right direction..

I go back sometimes and check out stuff. It was cool last week when we were looking for the cage bar, that I'm guessing you are going to post today. We didn't find it, but came up on post #869. I stayed and went through the dash build. I'll admit, it came out pretty cool and I thought to myself, wow, you built that. Fun stuff.

I remember way back when following Dave's build when he was welding on the backbone to his 14. I thought that he was a god for having the skill to weld onto the axle and stuff. Never in a million years did I think that I was eventually going to build basically an entire drivetrain/ truck from scratch.

It's came a along way with the help of all the guys here. Thanks all for following along, helping where you could and hopefully seeing her do a wheelie someday. :woot:

Your doing a great Job Mike. :waytogo:

Inspiring work!

Good tip about the blue sharpie too. It's one of those things I knew but never really thought about. :thumb:

Couple pics from last night. One is for AJ and the other......Just because it's kinda badass. :D

Even though everything is just kinda hanging there, it finally gives me a view of what the finished product will look like. :woot:

Hmmmm.......those sure don't look like "dishpan hands"!!! :haha:

The front bumper pic gives me a strange feeling of deja vu for some reason. :D

I don't know about deja vu, but gives me some kind of strange feeling. "Like when we used to climb the rope in gym class." SHWING!

Looks damn good. Almost a shame to cover up with the factory bumper.

A couple of sweet pics that Sean took of the rig as it was resting in the garage while we were drinkin' Neers. :waytogo:

Thanks Sean...

Oh, I should be getting something done this weekend too. :D

Happy to help! Sorry we didn't actually accomplish anything...

Those pics are great.... Really makes it look like a "pro build" hiding in a regular guys gararge!

I think my favorite is that very first image. Looks menacing.

A little Sunday morning update. Worked on the fairlead all day yesterday and came close to getting the hero pic yesterday. I ran short at the end of the day when it was time to cut the bumper around it.

So today, it's guaranteed going to be a hero day, as it should only take about an hour.

Pics from yesterday.

30 extra horsepower, in just this one pic alone. :D :waytogo:

I guess that I didn't get pics, but there are two more 1/2" bolts on the outer edges holding the fairlead plate on too. :pimp:

Did a pretty good job of hitting the center on the bumper.

Thank ya Sir. :waytogo:

Heading out to the garage here in a minute. It will be nice to see it all finally put together. :woot:

That's a money shot right there. Seriously nice work Mike.
