That's a money shot right there. Seriously nice work Mike.

I have a better one for you. :thumb:

How many Bud lights you got into that!?? :D

Looks great Mike! :waytogo:

Gave up the cigs, so in turn really slowed down on the Neers. The two go hand in hand, as you know. :doah: Prolly be a couple neers today though. :haha:

Mmmmmmm so beefy!

Finally here, Dude. :waytogo:

The bumper shots.

Pretty damn jacked up right now. :woot:

I need to run to tractor supply. The baby hook that Warn sent with the winch won't fit over my little shackles. :haha:

That's because your shackles are ridonkulous!

Looks awesome btw! :waytogo::bow::bow::bow:

Looks awesome Mike, but awesomer is that you gave up the cigs...

My biggest problem is I can't seem to quit on my own. I've tried more times than I can count, and epicly fail each time. :doah:

Thanks Brother.

Thanks Rene. The cigs have been hard for sure. I've been cheating a little with a little Copenhagen though. I guess this makes day 11 without one. :woot:

sweet build :waytogo:
I love the fab work to keep the stock bumper look

Thanks. It sure has been a bigger project than I thought getting everything just right for the stock bumper. Now that I have the fairlead visible, I think that It came out pretty good.

A little later in the day on Sunday I stated on the free spool handle. A couple months ago one of my guys flipped his Jeep Liberty. They pulled the engine and the rest was going to the junk yard. I ended up taking the grinder to the steering linkage hoping that it would work for the free spool handle.

After a lot of messing around and making a spot in the winch plate that it can come through. I think that I have a good plan.

I can go two ways with this.

One is to cut up the handle, Build a "U" bracket with a bolt through it that would hold the handle portion, then weld the base of the "U" to the end of the linkage.

The other is to have a piece machined so it operates the winch and either is welded to the linkage or a slip shaft that would hold the machined piece and the end of the linkage together.

Up top I want to run some kind of fabricated carrier off the inside of the top bumper tube. I was thinking maybe a 4" x 4" chunk of Derlin or something to hold the entire shaft in place.

All in all the hopes are to bring this between the back of the bumper and the grill. A small hole will be made in the hidden portion of the grill bottom where an extension to fit a socket wrench would be. All would be pretty much hidden, but would work the winch really well without a hole through the bumper.

Here is where I ended up. Any ideas on how to make this work would be great.

Dark pic, but where it would end up coming up through the bottom lip on the grill.

A plate off the inside of this tube would hold the carrier.

The handle

Well cut an access hole through the bumper...duh. :flipoff7:

What would be seriously sick is if one of your license plate bolts was the release handle. Quick turn of the wrench, it's engaged, turn it back and freespool. Best of all, invisible. :dunno:

Slick idea! I like it! :waytogo:

And your sticker will be on it`s way back to you soon!

Thanks for sending the sticker back. You ship stuff way better than Sean. :D

I know that you're joking, but that is really what I wanted to get away from this entire time. I think that the u-joint will work it will take some machine work to pull it off.

With that, I have had an old very cool lathe sitting at my mother in-laws for some time. I have no clue how to run it, but it was used by my wife's father for a long time with his trucking business. The plan is to pick it up this week after I make some room in the garage. The last corner full of normal tools that should be in a garage, rakes, shovels, brooms, all will need to find a new home. Perhaps in the Master bedroom, under the bed, because I just don't have room in the garage for that kind of stuff any more. :pimp:

A little weekend progress..

Saturday was spent tweaking the front tube bumper a little. The drivers side pushed out just a little during the final welding. It held that side of the bumper away from the fender by about 1/2" too much. I made one slice in the gusset and tube work to push it back. With the help of a ratchet strap, all is welded up and sitting where it is suppose to be.

After that, I kinda called it on the bumper for now. Truthfully, I'm tired of it. Later on down the road, I'll probably add some more stuff to it, but for now, It all works and fits great. That is, minus the freespool lever.

Sunday was all about getting away from the bumper. I had ordered my seats from PRP some three weeks back, but something happened and won't see them till the 18th or so. Yey, I get a free T-shirt out of the deal..

It turned out OK though. I have a bunch of stuff to do between the bumper and seats, so it was engine cage day.

Here are so pics to prove that I actually pushed on past the bumper this weekend. :woot: All in all, it was pretty fun working on it. I have some pretty good ideas on how the finished cage will be in my head now.

A simple little slice to bring all back home. :waytogo:

Look ma, no fenders. Finished the shock tube install on both sides.

Ended up with about 5 3/4 fro up travel.

And a little later in the day, had something like this.

Then a little later had something like this.

Here you can see that I held the vertical tube in front of the firewall about 1/4 away. The top tube that will be bent and run from side to side over the dizzy needs to be out far enough so I can still get at these.

I like the new tube work. I think that it will really tighten up the frame with the down tube heading down to the slider and also help the slider from any up travel.

Thanks for sending the sticker back. You ship stuff way better than Sean. :D

OUCH!:eek1::haha::haha::haha:

In Dean's defense, his package was not a 5 foot long piece of metal of an abnormal shape... But he clearly tapes chit better than I do too, so it could go either way:dunno:

Tube work looks good man!

I like how you have a tube clamp electrical-taped to the tube to remind you that it needs to be installed later on... :)

....and I feel you about getting tired of the same project day-after-day. You've learned all you need to know about the bumper and any potential issues for fitment so there's really no risk in moving along to something else for a while....it will be good for your soul.

:deal:

If I didn't have it taped on there.....You know damn well they would be the best welds that I have ever laid down on the rig, all to cut them up. :doah:

Yep, I actually had a lot of fun out there yesterday. I'm even excited about heading back out there to get some after work progress in this week. :woot:

You should be getting some work day texts of progress......or drinking beer. :pimp:

Stay tuned to find out what one. :haha:

Oh, where the hell did Heath Go???? :dunno: I miss that dude. :waytogo:

That does look great! between you and Greg there is a lot of coolness happening! :waytogo:

But with Greg`s... its way over my head. :doah:I would love to see your two trucks together one day. I`ll probably never see it but I could look at pic`s. :thumb:

I hear ya, Deaner. Sometimes on Greg's stuff my eyes must glass over a bit. Pretty insane and complicated build he has.

On the other hand, plan is to have them both at BB2018. So be there. :waytogo:

I think at this point every build is over my head.

I highly doubt that. I can't think of a faster rig going across the whoops than in some of your vids, Chris. :pimp:

You build one hell of a nice rig and should be damn proud. I've went through your thread hundreds of times to come up with ideas for mine.

Thanks for the nice words about the build though.

Hoping to get a little garage time in tonight. :woot:
